Justice Capital’s Community Led Public Safety Accelerator and Fund
Justice Capital’s Accelerator, Advisory, and Blended Fund expand the capacity of community-led public health and safety models to scale thriving Black, Brown, Indigenous and systems impacted communities.
Community-led public health and safety must be the cornerstone of Criminal Justice and Police Reform. It creates better impacts and budget outcomes while also catalyzing a new industry with systems impacted communities at its core to strengthen their economies.
But community-led initiatives lack access to capital and business development support to come to the scale needed for them to thrive. Furthermore, without needed jobs, ownership opportunities, and housing and infrastructure investments, they will not be able to reach their greatest impacts. As long overdue investment commitments are being made to Black, Brown, Indigenous, and frontline communities and climate infrastructure, an intentional pipeline of staged business development support and more efficient, aggregated deployment of capital is required to ensure communities are prepared to absorb scaled investment and take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity.
Community Led Infrastructure
Healthy, Equitable, Resilient Communities Accelerator, Innovation Studio, and Fund
Expands the capacity of community-led housing, energy, remediation, and infrastructure projects to build thriving Black, Brown, Indigenous and frontline communities to own and govern the Just Transition.
Community-led clean energy and infrastructure are the cornerstone of a Just Transition, which delivers benefits for communities most impacted by pollution, extraction, and the climate crisis, while also catalyzing strong economies with these communities at its core.
But community-led initiatives lack access to capital and business development support to come to the scale needed for them to thrive. As long overdue investment commitments are being made to Black, Brown, Indigenous, and frontline communities and climate infrastructure, an intentional continuum of staged business development support and more efficient, aggregated deployment of capital is required to ensure communities are prepared to absorb scaled investment and take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity.
Why Our Approach
There is no accelerator to support gold standard models led by frontline communities from Black, Brown, Indigenous and systems impacted communities to come to scale. Our accelerators support best-in-class community-led infrastructure and public health and safety models to come to scale. We center their unique needs, opportunities, and challenges to help enhance their existing models with additional partners as needed.
Making a community safer isn’t enough. It doesn’t meet the foundational needs of the community and without place-based development and protections, making systems impacted communities safer could make them vulnerable to gentrification and displacement. Our model prepares communities to ‘masterplan’ and own their own development at the scale needed to truly move the dial– keeping value creation within the community rather than allowing others to profit off of or displace them.
Lastly, there isn’t an efficient continuum of Capital and development support for community-led infrastructure and public health and safety solutions to scale sustainably.
Our model solves for these gaps by not just enhancing our local partners but also arranging catalytic investment opportunities that expand resilient local infrastructure along with public health and safety. This allows us to eliminate barriers to economic prosperity by opening up previously inaccessible investments in housing, infrastructure, locally owned enterprises and job growth.
